Helin Bölek Lives – Herne Pêş

Helin Bölek died today after 288 days of hunger strike in Turkey. She was arrested for singing her songs. Imagine that you are arrested for singing about women’s rights, feminism and freedom and equality for all nations. I will miss you and your songs. I loved how her band sang the Kurdish feminist folksong Herne Pes. It contributed positively to many girls and women in Kurdistan. We love you for that Helin. You did that. I hope you knew that when you were alive. Rest in peace, we will move forward thanks to you.
